How to install underfloor heating
- Assessment: Our professionals will assess your home to determine the most suitable type of system based on the type of building, existing flooring, and personal heating needs.
- Insulation: Insulation is laid down first to ensure that the heat is directed upwards rather than being lost downwards. This step is crucial for the efficiency of the system.
- Installation of the heating system:
- Water-based: Pipes are laid out across the floor in a pre-designed pattern. These pipes are then connected to your central heating system.
- Electric: Heating mats or cables are installed and connected to your electrical system.
- Floor Preparation: The floor is prepared for the final finish. This may involve applying a screed layer to cover the pipes or cables, ensuring a smooth and level surface.
- Installation of Floor Finish: Finally, the chosen floor finish is installed over the underfloor heating system.
Types of underfloor heating
- Water-Based (UFH): This system circulates warm water through a network of pipes beneath the floor. It is ideal for larger areas and is more cost-effective in the long run, although the installation is more complex.
- Electric (UFH): This system uses electric cables or mats to heat the floor. It is easier to install and is suitable for smaller areas or individual rooms, but it can be more expensive to run.
Suitable Floor Finishes
